Successful participation in FECI 2025

On October 5th, our team participated in the 2025 Science Festival (FECI), with activities in the Metropolitan Region and the O'Higgins Region.

In a family-friendly atmosphere celebrating knowledge, educational materials on Triatoma infestans and Drosophila suzukii were presented, generating great interest among children, young adults, and adults. The event was a valuable opportunity to bring science closer to the community and combat misinformation and fake news.

PIC2 researcher awarded regular Fondecyt project 2025

PIC2 researcher Christian Figueroa has been awarded a regular Fondecyt project that will incorporate predictive mathematical models to analyze how the population dynamics of the green ear aphid (Sitobion avenae) and its natural enemies vary under climate change conditions.

This study will consider the aphid's genetic and reproductive attributes, as well as its close relationship with endosymbiotic bacteria, which may provide protection against natural enemies or greater tolerance to rising temperatures.
